Cornell Board of Trustees to meet May 23-24

The Cornell University Board of Trustees will meet in Ithaca on Friday, May 23, and Saturday, May 24. The full board will convene on Saturday, May 24, at 10 a.m. in the Trustee Meeting Room of the Herbert F. Johnson Museum of Art on campus.

During the open session, which will adjourn at approximately 11 a.m., the board will hear a report from President Hunter Rawlings; Vice President for Student and Academic Affairs Susan Murphy will present a preliminary report from the Residential Communities Implementation Plan Steering Committee; Associate Provost Winnie Taylor will present the annual report on the status of women, American Indians, Asian Americans, African Americans and Hispanic Americans; and the 1997-98 financial plan and statutory college budget will be presented.

Four committees will have open sessions on Friday:

  • The Buildings and Properties Committee will meet in open session beginning at 8:30 a.m. in the Yale-Princeton Room of the Statler Hotel to discuss the status of ongoing projects.
  • The Committee on Land Grant and Statutory College Affairs will hold an open meeting at 2 p.m. in the Yale-Princeton Room. The committee will hear updates on the state budget, state and federal relations and statutory tuitions.
  • The Committee on Academic Affairs and Campus Life will meet in open session at 11:30 a.m. in the Taylor Salon of the Statler Hotel for discussion of a report on the transition of faculty to emeritus status and curriculum review in the College of Arts and Sciences, among other matters.
  • The Audit Committee will meet briefly in open session at 4 p.m. in Room 110 at the A.D. White House to discuss financial statement changes and risk assessment.

A limited number of tickets for the open session of the full board will be available starting at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 21, at the Information and Referral desk in the lobby of Day Hall. No tickets are needed for the open sessions of the other committees.
