In early June, Tompkins County Area Transit (TCAT) introduced the Summer Fun Pass. The pass, for youths ages 6 to 18, is valid on any TCAT bus in Tompkins County this summer, through Aug. 31. Already more than 266 passes have been purchased for $25 each.

"At roughly the same price as a full tank of gas, the pass has been providing an economical alternative for many families," said Rod Ghearing, TCAT general manager. "As the summer wears on, we want the Fun Pass to continue to be a good value."

So, Ghearing said, the price of the pass is dropping as the summer progresses.

As of July 14, the price has dropped to $20; on July 28, it will be lowered to $15; and from Aug. 11 on, the price will be $10.
