Cornell Campus Store will have its best-seller list featured on C-Span 2 Saturday
By Simeon Moss
The Cornell Store will have its list of top-10 best-selling hardcover non-fiction books aired on C-Span 2 Saturday night, Jan. 17.
Between segments of the cable network's program "About Books" each week, two best-seller lists are featured, one from an independent bookstore and one from a newspaper or magazine. This Saturday, in the break between the show's 8 to 9 p.m. and 9 to 10 p.m. segments, the Campus Store will have its list featured, said Emily Gray, general book department manager at the store.
Gray points out that the Campus Store titles differ greatly from national best-seller lists because half the titles are of local interest or by local authors.
"We're pleased that the list will highlight local authors, including Cornell faculty members," Gray said.
Here is the Campus Store's non-fiction list for the month of December 1997, which will be featured on the C-Span segment:
- 1. McCarthy, John, Finger Lakes Revisited
- 2. Brumberg, Joan, The Body Project
- 3. Moosewood Collective, Moosewood Restaurant Book of Desserts
- 4. Berendt, John, Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil
- 5. McCourt, Frank, Angela's Ashes: A Memoir
- 6. Sagan, Carl, Billions and Billions
- 7. Rombauer, Irma, Joy of Cooking New Edition
- 8. Krakauer, John, Into Thin Air
- 9. Harrington, Charles, Finger Lakes of New York
- 10. Roberts, Monty, Man Who Listens to Horses
McCarthy is a photographer from Skaneateles; Harrington is a staff photographer at University Photography at Cornell; Brumberg is a Cornell professor, as was the late Carl Sagan; and Moosewood Restaurant is, of course, an Ithaca restaurant.
