Cornell trustees to meet in New York City Jan. 22 through 24 1998

The Cornell Board of Trustees will hold its first meeting of 1998 at the Cornell Medical College in New York City Jan. 22 through 24.
The full board will meet briefly in open session at 9 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 24, in the Joan and Sanford I. Weill Education Center in the medical college's Harkness Medical Research Building, 1300 York Ave. Among topics of discussion will be a report from President Hunter Rawlings. The board is expected to approve 1998-99 tuition rates for the endowed colleges.
In addition to the full board meetings, the following committees with open sessions will meet on Thursday, Jan. 22, or Friday, Jan. 23, in the Harkness Building:
- The Buildings and Properties Committee will meet at 2 p.m. Thursday in Room A-126. The Catherwood Library renovation and Mann Library refurbishment equipment purchase will be discussed.
- The Audit Committee will hold an open session at the beginning of its meeting at 6:30 p.m. Thursday in Whitney 117. The committee's annual report will be reviewed.
- The Land Grant and Statutory College Affairs Committee will meet in open sessions 2 p.m. Friday in Room A-126. Among items to be discussed are the 1998-99 SUNY budget, the federal and state financial climate, tuition and the Salary Improvement Program implementation.
- The Committee on Academic Affairs and Campus Life will meet at 3:30 p.m. Friday in Room A-126, beginning with a 15-minute open session to discuss the Report on Transition From Faculty to Emeritus Status.
Tickets for the Board of Trustees meeting may be obtained by the general public on a first-come, first-served basis beginning Tuesday, Jan. 20, at the Information and Referral Center in Day Hall, Ithaca.
