Doctor-astronaut will lecture on campus Nov. 10

Jay C. Buckey, Jr. M.D., research asssociate professor of medicine at Dartmouth Medical School and a member of the space shuttle Columbia crew on the Spacelab flight from April 17 to May 3 this year, will speak on medical research in space at Cornell University Nov. 10.
His lecture, "Neurolab: A Study of the Nervous System in Space," will be at 4:30 p.m. in 101 Phillips Hall. The talk is free and open to the public. Buckey will answer questions from the audience at the conclusion of his talk.
Neurolab is a series of NASA-organized studies on how gravity affects the nervous system. Of the studies, 26 were carried out on Buckey's 16-day flight, and six others will fly on future shuttle missions.
Buckey's appearance is part of the colloquium series sponsored by the School of Electrical Engineering and the Ithaca Section of the Institute for Electrical and Electronics Engineers.
