Cornell Board of Trustees to meet May 25-26 in Ithaca

The Cornell Board of Trustees will meet in Ithaca on Friday, May 25, and Saturday, May 26. The Executive Committee of the board will hold a brief open session at the start of its meeting at 9 a.m. Friday, May 25, in Ballroom B of the Statler Hotel on campus. The open session will include a discussion of the 2001-02 financial plan for the contract colleges. The full board will convene in open session Friday at 3:15 p.m., and in closed, executive session at 9 a.m. Saturday, in the Trustee Meeting Room of the Herbert F. Johnson Museum of Art.

During the open session, the board will hear reports from President Hunter Rawlings; from Dean of the Faculty J. Robert Cooke; from Dawn Darby, chair of the Employee Assembly; and the annual report from Robert Harris, vice provost for diversity and faculty development, on "Progress Toward Diversity and Inclusion." The 2001-02 financial plan and contract college budget also will be presented.

These committees will have open sessions Friday, May 25:

  • The Buildings and Properties Committee will meet in open session at 9 a.m. in the Yale-Princeton Room of the Statler Hotel to hear status reports on various construction projects.
  • The Committee on Land Grant and Statutory College Affairs will meet in open session at 7:30 a.m. in the Taylor Room A/B. The committee will hear a report on meetings with the governor and legislative leaders and a panel discussion on the land grant college mission. The capital facilities plan also will be discussed.
  • The Committee on Academic Affairs and Campus Life will hold a brief open session at the start of its 1 p.m. meeting in the Yale-Princeton Room. Provost Biddy Martin and Susan Henry, the Ronald P. Lynch Dean of the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, will report on plans to establish the Department of Biostatistics and Computational Biology.

A limited number of tickets for the open session of the Executive Committee and full board will be available starting at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 23, at the Information and Referral Center in the lobby of Day Hall.
