Death of Cornell graduate student is being investigated

ITHACA, N.Y. -- Cornell University Police and Ithaca Police are investigating the death of a Cornell University graduate student.

The student, a 25-year-old male, collapsed in a laboratory on campus at approximately 10 p.m. March 31. He was taken to Cayuga Medical Center, where he died this morning (April 1).

The cause of death is under investigation. An autopsy will be performed.

Cornell's Environmental Health and Safety specialists initially sealed off the laboratory where the student collapsed, but found no evidence of chemical contamination. The lab has been reopened.
