Cornell trustees to meet in New York City, Jan. 22-24

The Cornell University Board of Trustees will hold its first meetings of 2004 at the Weill Medical College of Cornell University in New York City, Jan. 22 through 24.

The full board will meet from 9 to 11:45 a.m. and from 1:45 to 3:15 p.m. Friday, Jan. 23. The first 15 minutes of the afternoon meeting will be open to the public. The rest of those meetings and a meeting Saturday, Jan. 24, from 9 to 11 a.m., will be closed. The meetings will be in the Joan and Sanford I. Weill Education Center, 1300 York Ave. Among topics of discussion will be a report from President Jeffrey Lehman and a report from the College of Arts and Sciences. The board is expected to approve 2004-05 tuition rates for the endowed colleges.

In addition to the full board meetings, the following committees with open sessions will meet Thursday, Jan. 22, or Friday, Jan. 23:

  • The Buildings and Properties Committee will meet briefly in open session to discuss ongoing construction projects at the start of its 9:30 a.m. meeting, Thursday, in the Fall Creek Room.
  • The Land Grant and Statutory College Affairs Committee will meet in open session at 2 p.m., Thursday, in the Fall Creek Room. Items to be discussed at this open meeting include higher education in New York state and state relations, and state and federal budget issues.
  • The Audit Committee will have an open session at the beginning of its meeting at 4 p.m., Thursday, in the Fall Creek Room. The committee's annual report will be presented.
  • The Committee on Academic Affairs and Campus Life will have a brief open session at its meeting at 3:30 p.m., Friday, in Room A-126 for approval of minutes from the October meeting.

Tickets for the board of trustees meeting can be obtained by the general public on a first-come, first-served basis beginning at noon Wednesday, Jan. 21, at the Information and Referral Center in Day Hall, Ithaca.
