Two faculty members added to Presidential Search Committee
Two additional members of the Cornell University faculty have been added to the list of full members of the Presidential Search Committee.
Charles Walcott, dean of the faculty, has announced that Rosemary Avery, a professor in the Department of Policy Analysis and Management, and Richard Schuler, a professor in the Department of Economics and the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, have been selected from a list of four names submitted by the University Committee on Nominations and Elections.
The addition brings the total of faculty on the search committee to five. The other members are Laura Brown, a professor in the Department of English, Lisa Earle, a professor in the Department of Plant Breeding and Genetics, and Juris Hartmanis, a professor in the Department of Computer Science.
The additional faculty involvement in the search process was a direct result of a meeting of the faculty with members of the search committee Tuesday, Aug. 30. Peter Meinig, chair of the Cornell Board of Trustees, and Diana Daniels, chair of the search committee and vice chair of the board, agreed to the increased faculty involvement in the search for a successor to former president Jeffrey S. Lehman.
