Cathy Enz to lead industry outreach for Cornell Hotel School

Cathy A. Enz, the Lewis G. Schaeneman Jr. Professor of Innovation and Dynamic Management at Cornell's School of Hotel Administration, has been appointed associate dean for industry research and affairs at the Hotel School. In that new position, Enz will lead the school's Center for Hospitality Research, Offices of Executive Education and Corporate Relations, and the newly launched Institute for Hospitality Entrepreneurship.

"There is a great tradition of entrepreneurship at the Hotel School. I look forward to building on that tradition for the next generation of students," said Enz.

"We are delighted that Cathy will be leading our industry outreach initiatives," said interim Hotel School Dean Sheryl E. Kimes. "Under her direction, the school will build on the strong relationships we have with our many friends in the industry."

Enz's research addresses innovation, change management and competitive strategy. During her 16 years as a faculty member at the school, she has served in various leadership roles, including executive director of the Center for Hospitality Research. She has published more than 70 articles in scholarly journals and is the co-author of "American Lodging Excellence: The Keys to Best Practices in the U.S. Lodging Industry" and "Hospitality Strategic Management: Concepts and Cases."

Under Enz's leadership in her new position, the Institute for Hospitality Entrepreneurship is launching a speaker series, "Conversations with Entrepreneurs," featuring successful hospitality entrepreneurs. The first two events are April 5, with Lee Stein, managing partner of Virtual Group, LLC, in 565 Statler Hall, from noon to 1 p.m.; and May 2, with Mark Harmon, principal & CEO, Auberge Resorts, in 341 Statler Hall, from noon to 1 p.m. Both events are free and open to the public.

Additionally the institute will launch its Hospitality Innovator Award, honoring the achievements of hospitality leaders.
