Tuscany in Ithaca: Redesigned Banfi's is now a taverna, complete with wine bar and art
The newly redesigned Banfi's restaurant in the Statler Hotel offers dining that reflects a Tuscan taverna, complete with wine bar, regional-inspired specialties and Tuscan art. The new Taverna Banfi reopened earlier this month and is now serving breakfast, lunch, dinner and Sunday brunch.
The restaurant, considered upscale casual, is modeled after the eatery at La Taverna in the Castello Banfi Estate in Montalcino, Italy. Recipient of the Wine Spectator Award of Excellence, Taverna Banfi serves the wines of Banfi Vintners, and as a member of the Finger Lakes Culinary Bounty, its menu features products from 20 farms in the Finger Lakes region.
Among the restaurant's offerings is an antipasto bar with assorted appetizers that will change to reflect the seasons. Later this year, the "Seminars for the Senses" series will include wine pairings with regional cheeses, chocolate tastings, olive oil samplings and coffee presentations.
