Thomas P. LiVigne named interim director of Cornell Real Estate
Thomas P. LiVigne, manager of real estate operations at Cornell, has been named interim director of Cornell Real Estate, effective April 2. As interim director, LiVigne will assume the duties of John Majeroni, who has accepted a position at the Georgia Institute of Technology as executive director for real estate development.
"John Majeroni has earned the respect of the entire community as a visionary and an entrepreneur," said Richard W. McDaniel, Cornell vice president for business services and environmental safety. "He leaves behind a great legacy."
Majeroni has been at Cornell for 26 years and directing Cornell Real Estate for more than 25 years. The bulk of development for the Cornell Business and Technology Park was completed during his tenure as director. Numerous other projects were initiated under Majeroni's leadership, including Seneca Place in downtown Ithaca and the Pine Tree Road office building, which is under construction.
A national search will be conducted for Majeroni's replacement with the goal of having the position filled by this summer, McDaniel said. The director of Cornell Real Estate is in charge of acquisition, sale, leasing, development and strategic planning of all university real property assets, in addition to the management, construction and financing of nonacademic real estate.
