Debate, outreach and culture mark International Education Week 2007 events on campus
By Daniel Aloi
The Mario Einaudi Center for International Studies has announced several events for International Education Week at Cornell, Nov. 12-16. Educational institutions across the country and embassies worldwide have events each year to share culture, current events and history, and promote international exchange.
The week of events includes outreach programs featuring Cornell students participating in a new Performance and Speakers Bureau, and the launch of a series of critical debates in foreign policy. The first debate, on Turkey's membership in the European Union, is Nov. 12 at 4:30 p.m. in Goldwin Smith Hall's Lewis Auditorium. The moderator is Christopher Anderson, government, with debaters Laure Delcour, a senior research fellow at the Institut des Relations Internationales et Stratégiques in Paris, and Soner Cagaptay, director of the Turkish Research Program at the Washington Institute for Near Eastern Policy.
All events are free and open to the public, except where noted otherwise below. For more information, visit http://www.einaudi.cornell.edu/calendar/index.asp.
