Emergency sirens to be installed March 17-18
Cornell will install emergency alert sirens on the roofs of four campus buildings March 17 and 18.
A crane will place siren assemblies on the roofs of Hans Bethe House, Mary Donlon Hall, Bartels Hall and the Veterinary Medical Center. Technicians from Mid-State Communications, working with Cornell University Police, will perform preliminary, commissioning testing of the new system.
A full-scale test of Cornell's new siren/public address (PA) alerts is scheduled for later this semester. When fully operational, the siren/PA alerts will be part of a comprehensive alert system to notify the campus of immediate or imminent emergency situations.
