Repaving, widening, repairs to close part of Hoy Road in summer

A portion of Hoy Road, from the Dwyer Dam Bridge (Dryden Road and Route 366) to the parking garage entrance, will be closed to all vehicular traffic beginning May 27 through the summer for road rehabilitation. Entry to the garage from Campus Road and exit from the garage to Hoy Road westbound will be maintained throughout construction. Pedestrian access also will be maintained throughout the project.

The road will be repaved and widened to 30 feet wide from 26 feet wide between the Rhodes Hall driveway to the west side of the Dwyer Dam Bridge to accommodate two 5-foot bicycle lanes and two 10-foot motor vehicle lanes. Pavement markings near the Hoy Road visitor information booth, which will be closed during the project, will be modified to improve vehicle flow and safety.

Repairs and maintenance also will be done on underground steam vaults and steam tunnels. Work also will include construction of slope stabilization systems on the south side of Hoy Road.

The road will be temporarily opened for new students arriving for move-in weekend, Aug. 22-24, and then closed until the project is complete, estimated to be until at least through the end of summer.

The East Hill Shuttle service will be rerouted for the duration of the project. Later this spring, information will be available at http://www.parking.cornell.edu detailing the revised route.

TCAT will adjust bus routes affected by the closing; information will be posted later this spring on TCAT's Web site at http://www.tcatbus.com.

For more information on the closing throughout the spring, visit the Special Conditions page at http://cuinfo.cornell.edu/SpecialConditions/.
