Letter to the Editor: Students donate their energies -- unsolicited -- to Family & Children's Service
To the Editor:
Family & Children's Service of Ithaca has long enjoyed a great working relationship with Cornell, providing the staffing for the university's Employee Assistance Program and a preferred referral partner with Gannett's Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) program. We have also been the grateful recipient of generous philanthropy from Cornell and enjoyed many Cornellians as board members and volunteers with our agency.
Cornell students have also volunteered and interned at our agency for many years. As an agency dedicated to the welfare and well-being of young people, we have always been keen to engage with Cornell students. We wanted to inform you that in the last month, various Cornell student groups have presented us with more than $11,000 to benefit various programs and special initiatives at Family & Children's Service.
The most compelling part of all these wonderful donations is they were done on our behalf without any request from us … they chose us for their good deeds and donations! We are sincerely grateful of Cornell's active and engaged philanthropy and community service to Family & Children's Service of Ithaca and our entire community.
Please accept our sincerest thanks and a deep sense of gratitude and pride being associated with Cornell!
With kind regards,
George Schuler, Ph.D., Chair, Board of Directors
James G. Johnston, President & CEO
