Undergraduate killed in one-vehicle accident in Ithaca

A Cornell University undergraduate student was killed in a motor vehicle accident on Saturday, Oct. 25, in the town of Ithaca. Cornell University Police have identified the deceased student as Evan D. Wade, 23, a senior in the College of Engineering and a member of Navy ROTC. Wade, who is from the Williamsburg, Va., area, was scheduled to graduate in December. He is survived by his parents and two younger brothers.

"On behalf of Cornell University, I want to express our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Evan Wade on this profoundly sad occasion," said Vice President for University Communications Thomas Bruce. "Support meetings for the Cornell community are being coordinated through the campus crisis manager and the Dean of Students Office. More information about these meetings will be forthcoming."

Wade was fatally injured in a one-vehicle accident that occurred at approximately 9:20 a.m. Oct. 25, on Mount Pleasant Road in the town of Ithaca, according to Cornell Police. No other injuries were reported in connection with the accident, and Wade was reportedly alone in the vehicle. The accident is being investigated by the Tompkins County Sheriff's Office.
