Cornell's 2009 Bring a Child to Work Day, April 23, will feature hour-long learning sessions by departments across campus as well as a variety of "drop in" alternative activities.

Samples of the learning sessions (9:30 a.m., 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.) include:

• Learning about building the engineering college's race car and touring a professional automotive garage;
• Hearing from Cornell scientists about such topics as the human brain, mechanical behavior and the solar system; and
• Having the opportunity to try a variety of art and cooking activities with an eye on future careers.

Samples of the alternative activities include:

• Watching a Cornell chimesmaster play the chimes;
• Visiting a Cornell museum; and
• Walking through Cornell Plantations.

A closing session will be held for all participants at 3 p.m., G-10 Biotechnology Building, featuring student entertainment and Cornell ice cream.
