Cornell leaders to host lunch-hour discussion on diversity
Cornell University leaders will set up tables on Ho Plaza over the lunch hour Tuesday, April 28, to host informal discussions with the Cornell community about diversity at the university.
These informal talks, the fourth in a series of sessions around campus over the past week, are designed to promote the sharing of ideas between administrators, faculty, staff and students about Cornell's diversity programs and goals.
Hosts will include Cornell President David Skorton, Deputy Provost David Harris, Vice President for Human Resources Mary Opperman and Vice President for Student and Academic Services Susan Murphy.
"I believe that our diversity initiative will not succeed unless we find innovative ways to have continuous, open dialogue with students, staff, faculty and alumni," Harris said. "We are hoping that the informal approach of 'Day Hall Talks Diversity' will promote frank, open discussions about diversity at Cornell."
This event is being sponsored by the University Diversity Council.
In case of rain, the event will take place in the lobby outside the Terrace Restaurant at the Statler Hotel.
