Campus mourns loss of student Matthew Zika
Matthew Charles Zika, 21, a junior in the Operations Research and Information Engineering program in the College of Engineering from West Lafayette, Ind., died Friday, March 12, on campus in the Fall Creek Gorge. A passerby observed him drop from the Suspension Bridge at about 3:45 p.m. on Friday, but his body has not been recovered.
"While the cause of this tragedy is still under investigation by the Ithaca Police Department, I join all of you in grieving deeply this and the other losses we have experienced together so very recently," said President David Skorton on Friday in a message to the campus community.
