Two graduate composers win Ives scholarships

Graduate students in music Jesse Benjamin Jones and Eric Nathan have been awarded 2010 Charles Ives Scholarships by the American Academy of Arts and Letters. The scholarships are worth $7,500 each. Jones and Nathan are both working toward D.M.A. degrees in composition at Cornell.

The scholarships are given annually to composition students of great promise. Steven Stucky, professor of music, serves with four other academy members on the music awards selection committee. Candidates for awards are nominated by the 250 members of the academy. The awards will be presented at a ceremony in May.
