Conference draws international social scientists to Cornell

Scholars from the United States, Canada, Europe and Africa will visit campus May 31-June 4 to attend a meeting of the International Association for Social Science Information Service and Technology (IASSIST), an organization that fosters the exchange of data and technology.

The conference features workshops on such subjects as international financial data; statistical software; surveys; digital preservation and management; newly available data for social scientists, demographers and health researchers; repositories and cloud services for cyberinfrastructure; developing a longitudinal data archive; inter-archival collaboration; collaboration in data curation; new research tools; social networking; qualitative data access and data management.

A poster session will be held June 3.

Sponsors of IASSIST 2010 are the Cornell Institute for Social and Economic Research, Cornell University Library, the Inter-university Consortium for Political and Social Research, the Open Data Foundation and the UK Data Archive.
