Second season of 'Sidelines' kicks off with football coach
"Sidelines," a weekly show featuring interviews with Cornell coaches, student-athletes, alumni and friends of Cornell Athletics, has returned for its second season with new host David Keating '10.
Presented by CornellCast, the show will be available on demand each Tuesday at 7 p.m. at http://www.cornell.edu/video/ as well as available on iTunesU, on Cornell's dedicated channel on YouTube at http://www.youtube.com/user/CornellUniversity and on Time Warner Cable's Tompkins County Channel 13. Past episodes of the show can be found on CornellCast and Cornell's YouTube channel.
In anticipation of Homecoming Weekend, Keating sat down with Kent Austin, the Roger J. Weiss Head Coach of Football at Cornell, who makes his campus debut Sept. 25.
Austin spoke about his preparations for this week's game against Yale, his expectations and emotions before his first Ivy League game, first home game and first Homecoming Weekend game of his Cornell coaching career.
"Homecoming is one those events that everyone looks forward to … it's always an important game for every school, and certainly it is for us," he said.
Austin knows that all Cornell eyes will be on his program in his weekend of firsts, and that attention and support are special. "That's what makes college football so great. Getting out on the field and competing, and knowing that it means a great deal to so many people that support us," he said.
The Cornell Big Red football team takes on Yale at 12:30 p.m. at Schoellkopf Field. More information regarding the game and Homecoming Weekend can be found at http://www.CornellBigRed.com and http://www.news.cornell.edu/stories/Sept10/HomecomingPre.html.
Next week's episode of "Sidelines" will feature Mike Schafer, the Jay R. Bloom Head Coach of Men's Hockey at Cornell.
