Forum to address mental health services for area students
By Susan Kelley
Updates on mental health services for area children and young adults will be the topic of discussion at an upcoming public forum.
The Campus-Community Coalition's fall meeting will take place Sept. 22, 7-8:30 p.m., Ithaca High School cafeteria, 1401 N. Cayuga St., Ithaca.
Representatives from the Ithaca City School District, Tompkins Cortland Community College, Ithaca College and Cornell will make presentations on their services and strategies for student mental health. Gary Stewart, director of community relations at Cornell, will facilitate.
A question-and-answer session will follow the presentation, and various community organizations will be on hand to distribute information and provide feedback.
The coalition, a group of staff and students from the aforementioned educational institutions, provides a forum for communitywide communication and joint problem solving. Its public forums have recently addressed such topics as landlord-tenant rights, safety concerns, the H1N1 influenza virus, underage drinking and student mental health.
For information, call Gary Stewart at 607-255-4666.
