Graduate student dies in car accident

Jade Woods Moore, 24, a graduate student in the Master of Public Administration program, was killed in a two-vehicle accident Oct. 5 on Route 13, north of Ithaca.

According to police reports, Moore collided with a tractor-trailer at the intersection of Route 13 and Mineah Road around 3:15 p.m. She was pronounced dead at Cayuga Medical Center. Her husband, Bill Moore, who was a passenger in the car, was taken to Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, Pa., where he died Oct. 6. State police and Dryden Ambulance personnel responded to the scene.

"On behalf of the entire Cornell community, I wish to convey my sincere condolences to Jade's and Bill's families, and to their many friends," said President David Skorton in an Oct. 6 message to the Cornell community. "Please join me in keeping them foremost in your thoughts in the days ahead as we mourn this tragic loss of life."
