Book, whose proceeds benefit cancer patients, chronicles wrestler's battle with cancer

Adam Frey '11 was a 22-year-old Cornell government major and wrestler when an automobile crash changed his life in March 2008. Although he walked away from the wreck, it was discovered at the hospital that he had stage III testicular cancer.

For the following 21 months before he died in December 2009, Frey, a two-time NCAA wrestling qualifier, continued to wrestle despite the devastating effects of cancer. Three days after his diagnosis, he started writing a blog as a young cancer patient battling the difficulties of fighting cancer that earned him fans around the world. Those blog entries, conveying Frey's faith, humor and spirit, are the core of the new book "Adam Frey: A Collection of Blogs and Stories" (Exit Zero Publishing), co-authored with writer James V. Moffatt '65.

The 180-page book includes numerous first-hand accounts by Frey's friends and family members.

All proceeds from the book will support the nonprofit Adam Frey Foundation. While undergoing treatments, Frey often spoke to his fellow patients and learned about their needs. The Adam Frey Foundation provides cancer patients with food, gas money to travel to medical appointments, prescriptions, airfare and other necessities not covered by insurance.
