Economic development council to meet at Cornell

The Southern Tier Regional Economic Development Council, co-chaired by Cornell President David Skorton, will hold two meetings on the Cornell campus: Wednesday, Sept. 28, and Oct. 19, both in G10 Biotechnology Building and beginning with a public session at 3 p.m. for approximately an hour, followed by a closed session and a press conference. The council will discuss a new regional initiative for economic development. No signs, banners or backpacks are allowed.

The council seeks public input on its five-year economic development strategic plan at a community forum Thursday, Sept. 29, 6-8 p.m., at the Women's Community Building, 100 West Seneca St., Ithaca. Pre-registration and identification is required for admission as seating will be limited. Sign up online.

The Southern Tier Regional Economic Development Council is one of 10 such councils New York Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo launched July 27 to drive local economic development and improve the business climate statewide.
