Healthy Pet Clinic in Queens slated for Oct. 13

Cornell veterinary students, alumni and clinical faculty will provide animal care for dogs and cats at the Cornell Healthy Pet Clinic Saturday, Oct. 13, from noon to 5 p.m., at the Cross Island YMCA, 238-10 Hillside Ave., Bellerose, Queens.

The visit will cost owners $20; all proceeds will go to the Cross Island YMCA. Pet owners are strongly encouraged to make appointments by calling 347-620-4738 or emailing cuhealthypetclinic@gmail.com with availability times.

The visit will include a full physical exam, vaccinations and a one-year supply of heartworm/flea preventative and basic worming medication.

Veterinary students will handle everything from interacting with clients to examining the animal patients, as veterinarians watch and assist as needed. Pets diagnosed with any clinical condition will be referred to local veterinary practices for further diagnostics and follow-up.

Microchips will be available for an additional $15. If a pet is suffering from an illness, owners are asked to make an appointment with a local veterinarian.
