Extension has disaster resources available for communities and businesses
Cornell Cooperative Extension's New York Extension Disaster Education Network (NY EDEN) has education resources available to New Yorkers -- including information on up-to-date best practices for families, farmers, businesses and communities recovering from disasters.
The information covers a wide range of areas, from how to deal with power outages (from thawing freezers to tree damage and generators) to how to best recover from flooding (from mold to insurance issues) and strategies for farmers who suffered damage from Hurricane Sandy.
Cornell Cooperative Extension county offices can also help connect communities and businesses to these and additional NY EDEN resources.
For more information, go to NY EDEN online for fact sheets and other resources for home and business use. Evidence-based resources from across the nation, combining the research expertise and experience of more than 50 land-grant universities have been compiled there.
Cornell Cooperative Extension plays an active role in assisting its federal and state partners to ensure that all New Yorkers receive the help they need in the aftermath of disasters such as Hurricane Sandy. NY EDEN enables county and regionally based extension educators to participate in local disaster management and recovery efforts and provides reliable information and educational resources to aid in preparation and recovery efforts.
