Holiday film

Staff, faculty and students on campus and their families are invited to attend a free screening of "The Santa Clause" starring Tim Allen, Dec. 14, 7-9 p.m. in Bailey Hall. All ages are welcome; the film is rated PG.

Doors open at 6 p.m., and there will be a reception with light refreshments in the lobby. Presented by Bailey Hall.

Greek life Q-and-A

The Cornell community is invited to join live video Q-and-A sessions online, "Meeting the Challenge: The Evolution of Cornell's Greek Community," Dec. 14 from 9:30-10:30 a.m. and Dec. 18 from 2:30-3:30 p.m.

The sessions, with Travis Apgar, associate dean of students for fraternities, sororities and independent living, will address questions about upcoming changes to the Greek new member orientation process and the university's long-term strategy for transformative culture change on campus.

Apgar will be joined by current Cornell Alumni Council Presidents Dan Meyer, Frank Wilkinson and Donna Barsotti, and by Bob Forness, co-chair of the Recruitment, Acceptance, Retention and Education (RARE) Task Force.

Art and commerce

The Readers' Theatre of Ithaca will present a talkback with Stephanie Wiles following a performance of Donald Margulies' "Sight Unseen," Dec. 16 at 6:30 p.m. at The Space, 700 W. Buffalo St., Ithaca (near the corner of Court and Fulton streets).

Wiles, the Richard J. Schwartz Director of the Herbert F. Johnson Museum of Art, will discuss "Art, Commerce and Sensationalism."

Tickets for the performance are $12 with a reservation and $15 without; cash only at the door. Admission for ages 16 and older only. For reservations, call 607-217-6272.

Agribusiness conference

New York state agricultural leaders, farm managers, educators and public policymakers are invited to learn about the short- and long-term outlook for agriculture at the annual Agribusiness Economic Outlook Conference, Tuesday, Dec. 18 from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the Statler Hotel's Statler Ballroom.

The conference is hosted by the Charles H. Dyson School of Applied Economics and Management. Breakout sessions on dairy, feed, grains and horticultural products will be featured.

Cornell faculty and other experts will provide the near-term outlook for major commodities, and Steven Kyle, professor of economics at the Dyson School, will present his outlook for the national economy. All conference registrants will receive a copy of the "New York Economic Outlook Handbook," published by the Dyson School. Library exhibitions

Explore Cornell's pre-history and the people and events that led to its creation in "Sen. Justin S. Morrill, the Land-Grant College Act and Cornell:

Hockey Night

Cornellians are invited to show their support for Cornell women's hockey at Big Red Hockey Night, Jan. 15, 5-9 p.m.

A pre-game dinner and faculty lecture will be held in the Hall of Fame Room, Friends Hall; followed by the Cornell women's team vs. Syracuse University at Lynah Rink. Assistant professor of communication Sahara Byrne will give a lecture, "Ladies in Red: The Psychology of Sports Media From Gender to Jersey Color," at 5:45 p.m.

The cost is $19 per person for the dinner program and game; for hockey season ticket holders, dinner only is $16. Space is limited to 60 people. Hockey tickets can be picked up at the Will Call window at the Lynah Rink ticket office.

Break closings

Four fall exhibitions will end Dec. 23 at the museum: "Mirror of the City: The Printed View in Italy and Beyond, 1450-1940," "Cinemania: Harun Farocki and Holly Zausner," "Illuminated: The Art of Sacred Books" and "Harry Bertoia: Sound and Vision." Leo Villareal's "Cosmos" installation above the Mallin Sculpture Court will remain on display.
