Cornell United Way seeks to close $16K gap before March 31
By Nancy Doolittle
In an effort to assist the United Way of Tompkins County, Cornell aims to obtain about $16,000 in donations to reach its $815,000 campaign goal by March 31.
“We have done really well, reaching 98 percent of our goal,” says Vice President KyuJung Whang, Cornell United Way Campaign chair. “Since the county relies so heavily on the Cornell United Way Campaign, we are making a final request for Cornell community members who have not already given to this year’s campaign to do so now, before March 31.”
United Way of Tompkins County donations provide funding for more than 150 health and human service programs. There are 43 United Way member organizations in the county, which provide quality services to improve people's lives.
Any donation – even as little as $1 – will make a difference for someone, Whang says, which is why he stresses the importance of participation more than actual dollar amounts. “Every contribution, no matter the amount, helps strengthen the ties that bind us together as friends, as neighbors and as a community of caring individuals. The funds we are raising will go far in meeting the needs of thousands of residents throughout the Tompkins County area and beyond,” he says.
Through March 31, the Cornell Store will continue to give patrons the option of donating $1 toward the Cornell United Way Campaign for Tompkins County at checkout.
