Community carnival to benefit United Way
By Nancy Doolittle
The annual Hilltop Jamboree at Barton Hall, Sunday, March 13, from 1 to 5 p.m. is geared to the local community and families and will feature festival food, displays, games and inflatables. The suggested donation is $5 for parents and $3 for kids. All proceeds benefit the Cornell United Way Campaign.
The Hilltop Jamboree is sponsored by the National Society of Minorities in Hospitality, the School of Hotel Administration, the ALANA (African Latino Asian Native American) Intercultural Board and the Center for Intercultural Dialogue. Contact asm293@cornell.edu for more information.
In other United Way news, nearly 200 Cornell community members bid on about 70 items Feb. 26 to raise money for the campaign. The online auction raised $6,119, with about 600 bids entered.
Employees can donate to the Cornell United Way Campaign through a one-time contribution or payroll deduction, tax-deductible for 2016. Every dollar given to the Cornell United Way campaign directly benefits programming (not overhead) for thousands of friends, neighbors, co-workers and their families.
