'One Funny Ithaca Story' benefits local cancer center
By Nancy Doolittle
Called a “comedic tribute to everything Ithaca stands (and sits) for,” the second annual “One Funny Ithaca Story” will be held March 20, 2-3:30 p.m. at The Space at GreenStar. The show will benefit the Cancer Resource Center of the Finger Lakes (CRC), a local organization serving patients, caregivers and families in and around Tompkins County.
In addition to Ithaca Mayor Svante Myrick, several Cornell staff members will be featured at the event, including Eileen Whang, Cornell dependent care consultant and CRC board president; Gary Stewart, director of Cornell’s Office of Community Relations and vice president of the CRC board of directors; Joel Malina, vice president for university relations; Cal Walker, outreach liaison for Community Relations; and Mark Lawrence, Web and communications manager for the Atkinson Center for a Sustainable Future.
Cornell’s other connections with the CRC range from student research to free rides on the Campus-to-Campus bus, when possible, for area cancer patients traveling to New York City for treatment.
Tickets: $21, online at gvgb.co/FunnyIthaca2. Donations can also be made through this site.
Online ticket sales end March 19 at 4 p.m.; tickets at the door should be available as well.
