Reminder: Deadline for 2017 child care grants is Sept. 29
By Nancy Doolittle
Reminder: The deadline for applications for Cornell’s 2017 Child Care Grant Program is Sept. 29.
Grants of up to $5,000 per year will be awarded, tax free, to eligible faculty and staff to assist with child care expenses, including infant and toddler care, preschool programs, school-age summer day camps and before/after school care for dependent children.
If you have a child under the age of 13 (or a special needs child older than 13), or are pregnant or planning to adopt and expect to have child care expenses in 2018, you can apply for this grant before the Sept. 29 deadline. To receive grant funds tax free, faculty and staff must be eligible to participate in the dependent care flexible spending account. Complete eligibility requirements will be available in the online FAQ Sept. 4.
The grant – one of many work/life programs offered to faculty and staff through the Division of Human Resources – can be used for formal care (center/facility-based) or informal care (babysitters or nannies).
Detailed information on the Child Care Grant Program, including the application and eligibility requirements, are available on the Human Resources website. If you do not find an answer to your question, contact Benefit Services at 607-255-3936 or email childcare@cornell.edu.
While undergraduate and graduate/professional students are not eligible for this program, information is available regarding the student child care grant program, guidelines and applications at the students with families website.
