Cornell joins national faculty development center

Cornell University has joined the National Center for Faculty Development and Diversity (NCFDD), and with the membership subscription comes resources such as guest expert webinars on time management and on how to promote scholarship on social media.

“We’re hoping that the new subscription will complement the resources we already provide on campus,” said Yael Levitte, associate vice provost for faculty development and diversity (OFDD).

The NCFDD is a nationally recognized, independent organization providing online career development and mentoring resources such as the Monday Motivator, an email offering a productivity tip and reinforcing ideas presented in webinars. Another program, the 14-day writing challenge, runs three times a year; participants experiment with daily writing and after two weeks analyze their productivity. The dissertation success curriculum uses a self-guided training program to help graduate students complete their dissertations.

Cornell’s subscription allows faculty, academic staff, postdoctoral fellows and graduate students to access the resources. Registration is necessary. For more information, email OFDD.

Lori Sonken is the program coordinator for the Office of Faculty Development and Diversity.
