Ryan Lombardi, vice president for student and campus life, issued the following statement Sept. 7:
I am deeply saddened to share the news that Iris Zhu ‘21, a student in the School of Hotel Administration, died last weekend while receiving treatment for a severe illness near her home in Maryland.
We welcomed Iris as an undergraduate student in 2017. She left a lasting impression on those she met through her classes and participation in student groups here at Cornell. On behalf of the Cornell community, my deepest condolences go out to Iris’ family and friends.
For those in need, there will be a community support meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 11, at 4:30 p.m. in Room 391, Statler Hall.
Support services are available to all members of the Cornell community. Students may consult with counselors from Cornell Health’s Counseling & Psychological Services (CAPS) by calling 607-255-5155. Students may speak with a peer counselor by calling the Empathy, Assistance and Referral Service (EARS) at 607-255-3277.
