Discounted reusables program launches for Earth Day 2021
By Sarah Brylinsky
Thanks to a new partnership with Cornell Dining, the Campus Sustainability Office and Cornell Grounds, Cornell Dining is providing a special incentive to help save more than 900 disposable containers each day from landfill.
For just $5, members of the campus community can purchase a reusable utensil and takeout container set which can be used at any of the eight dining locations listed below. The set would normally cost $13.50.
For the month of March and into April, the goal of the program is to sell 300 sets before Earth Day on April 22, 2021. The combination can be purchased at any of these residential dining rooms:
-
North Star, Appel Commons
-
Robert Purcell Marketplace Eatery, RPCC
-
Cook House Dining Room
-
Becker House Dining Room
-
Jansen's Dining Room, Bethe House
-
Rose House Dining Room
-
Keeton House Dining Room
In order to protect worker and customer health during COVID-19, dining locations across campus have been serving meals in single-use disposable containers. This program will help reduce landfill waste for those who can contribute by cleaning and reusing a container and serviceware.
