Summer concerts return to the Arts Quad
By Shelley Preston
For the first time in two years, free outdoor summer concerts return to Cornell.
Presented by the School of Continuing Education and Summer Sessions, this year’s series features three consecutive Friday concerts on the Cornell Arts Quad on July 1, 8 and 15 at 7 p.m.:
Known for her powerful lead vocals for the nationally touring band The Blind Spots, Maddy Walsh performs her signature "moxy rock."
July 8: Jorge T. Cuevas and the Caribe Jazz Allstars
Featuring some of the region’s best jazz musicians, the Allstars play an irresistible mix of originals and jazz standards in the styles of salsa, cha-cha, bolero, samba and merengue.
NEO Project is a seven-piece, high-energy dance band rooted in funky R&B grooves, Afro-Cuban/Caribbean rhythms and jazzy, bluesy rock. Its repertoire is made for dancing, with arrangements of established hits and original party grooves.
The concerts are free, open to the public and family-friendly. Cornell Dairy ice cream and bottled water will be available for purchase, and parking on campus is free after 5 p.m.
The shows begin promptly at 7 p.m., rain or shine. The stage will be located in front of the Ezra Cornell statue on the west side of the quad.
Any questions about the performances can be directed to Shelley Preston at sep246@cornell.edu.
