Weingarten ’80 continues leadership of 1.7 million-member union
By Mary Catt
Randi Weingarten ’80 was reelected president of the American Federation of Teachers on Sunday at its convention in Boston.
This is Weingarten’s eighth term leading the 1.7 million-member organization representing pre-K through 12th-grade teachers; paraprofessionals and other school-related personnel; higher education faculty and professional staff; federal, state and local government employees; nurses and health care workers; and early childhood educators.
Weingarten, a leader on campus during her ILR School years, is featured in many Cornell events, including an eCornell Keynote with ILR’s Alexander Colvin, Ph.D., ’99, the Kenneth F. Kahn ’69 Dean and the Martin F. Scheinman ’75, M.S. ’76, Professor of Conflict Resolution.
