Mészáros elected to American Mathematical Society
By Kate Blackwood
Karola Mészáros, associate professor of mathematics in the College of Arts and Sciences, has been elected as a 2026 Fellow of the American Mathematical Society.
The Fellows of the American Mathematical Society program recognizes members who have made outstanding contributions to the creation, exposition, advancement, communication and utilization of mathematics.
Mészáros' research focuses on algebriac and geometric combinatorics. She is interested in the interplay between algebra, geometry and combinatorics with an overarching goal of developing a new perspective on classical multivariate polynomials by recasting them in terms of polytopes. In 2020, she received support for this work from a National Science Foundation Faculty Early Career Development Program award.
