Weill Institute alumni share lessons for careers in science
By
A talk outside a researcher’s field, an internship during graduate school or a conversation with an unfamiliar colleague. Small events like these can change the direction of a scientific career. For alumni returning to the Weill Institute for Cell and Molecular Biology, those experiences offered a common lesson: Stay curious about where your training might lead.
Four alumni shared that advice during the institute’s Science Retreat, held Oct. 12 at Cornell’s Robert Purcell Community Center. Their panel, “Journey Through Science,” connected a day of interdisciplinary research presentations, discussions, and a poster session with a question facing many graduate students and postdoctoral researchers: What comes next?
The alumni panel explored how those same habits of inquiry and collaboration can shape careers in academia, public health and biotechnology.
