Mark Nelson, Cornell professor of accounting, has been named the 12th dean of the Samuel Curtis Johnson Graduate School of Management. He will begin his five-year term as the Anne and Elmer Lindseth Dean July 1.
The Samuel Curtis Johnson Graduate School of Management’s 69th graduating class included 387 graduates who earned Master of Business Administration degrees. Johnson's graduate recognition ceremony took place May 28.
Kate Walsh, MPS ’90, associate professor of organizational management, has been named interim dean of the School of Hotel Administration. She will begin a two-year term July 1.
Johnson alumnus David Breazzano's gift, one of the largest donations ever to business education at Cornell, supports the classroom and office building being built on Dryden Road, as well as faculty excellence.
Student success is the paramount goal of the College of Business Dean Soumitra Dutta told students May 11. "Your success is our success, not just on the job market upon graduation, but long term in your careers," he said.
With the help of nearly 100 committee members from across campus and with faculty governance proposed, the College of Business is beginning to take shape. College leaders reported on progress to faculty and staff May 10.
The Cornell College of Business is on track to launch in the coming academic year, said Dean Soumitra Dutta. Open forums about next steps will be held over the next two weeks for faculty, staff, students and alumni.
