The Employee Assembly (EA) encourages all staff members interested in having a voice in nonacademic and work-life matters to consider running for one of the 10 seats for which elections will be held this spring.

The EA advocates for staff interests and identifies concerns relating to staff, working with the university administration and other key stakeholders to seek solutions. All regular full- and part-time staff members in nonexempt, exempt or academic non-professorial staff categories, who are employed at either the Ithaca or Geneva campus, are eligible to run. The EA meets biweekly; committees meet on the off weeks.

The EA consists of 27 Cornell employees and one retiree; that seat is currently shared by two retirees. Representation in 2019-20 will be needed for the following colleges and schools:

• College of Architecture, Art and Planning
• College of Arts and Sciences
• College of Engineering / Computing and Information Science

Representatives are also needed for the following divisions, units and affinity groups:

• Disability representative-at-large
• Division of Facilities and Campus Services representative
• Division of Human Resources representative
• Geneva campus representative
• Health and safety representative-at-large
• International representative
• Retiree representative-at-large

Applications to become a candidate will be available online later this month, with elections to be held in the first half of April.
