Boiardi, who wore No. 21 as a captain of the Cornell lacrosse team, was an accomplished student, athlete and campus leader who was committed to joining Teach For America's South Dakota corps. He died tragically after being struck in the chest by a lacrosse ball toward the end of a varsity game in 2004 at Schoellkopf Field.
