Veterinary College hosts annual open house April 11
The Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM) will welcome community members of all ages to its annual CVM Open House on Saturday, April 11, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., for a behind‑the‑scenes look at one of the nation’s premier veterinary institutions.
The family friendly event will showcase the breadth of veterinary medicine through hands‑on activities, live demonstrations, guided tours and interactive exhibits. Visitors can explore Cornell’s veterinary facilities, meet faculty, staff and veterinary students, and learn how veterinarians care for animals ranging from household pets to wildlife and farm animals.
“Our Open House is a highlight of the year because it allows us to share the extraordinary work happening across our college,” said Jai Sweet, Ph.D. ’96, assistant dean for veterinary student services and admissions. “It’s a chance for the community to step into our facilities, engage directly with our community and discover the many ways veterinary medicine impacts animals, people and the environment.”
Activities will include educational stations on animal anatomy and imaging, clinical skills demonstrations and kid‑friendly experiences, such as bandaging stuffed animals and exploring veterinary tools up close.
The event is designed to inspire curiosity, support community engagement and encourage young people interested in science, medicine, and animal care. Each year, thousands of attendees visit the Cornell campus to participate.
The Cornell Veterinary Open House is free and open to the public. More information about the event including a full schedule, parking information and maps can be found online.
