Founded as the Cornell Center for a Sustainable Future in 2007 and then named and permanently endowed by David R. and Patricia Atkinson three years later, the Atkinson Center funds multidisciplinary solutions to sustainability challenges throughout the world.
It was a celebration of centuries of African-American history. In November 2017, alumni, parents and friends gathered in Washington, D.C., for “Cornell at the National Museum of African American History and Culture,” to explore the exhibits, connect with the Cornell community and affirm the university’s motto of “… any person … any study.”

I was the first person in my family to even think about going to college – and I had the audacity to want to become a lawyer.
