Presenting his last annual address to staff, President David Skorton focused on the importance of staff members to an organization's strength and stability, and thanked Cornell staff for their welcoming spirit and honesty.
The benefits open enrollment period is Nov. 1-21, giving endowed faculty and staff the opportunity to make changes to their health, dental and legal insurance plans. New health and dental plan rates have also been released.
A new economic impact report for 2013 shows that Cornell helped buffer Tompkins County from the national economic downturn that began in 2008, and has spurred growth in the region in the years since. Through volunteer activity alone, Cornell contributed more than $27 million to New York state.
The 12th annual Stephen E. Garner Day of Caring and food drive kicked off the county's 2014-15 United Way Campaign Sept. 30 at Stewart Park. The county campaign goal is $2,150,000.

Cornell Procurement Services won the 19th annual Achievement of Excellence in Procurement award for 2014 from the National Procurement Institute , a national network of purchasing and supply management professionals.
