Biology majors can now minor in business
By Susan S. Lang
Starting this semester, biology majors in the College of Arts and Sciences and life science majors in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences can minor in business through the Charles H. Dyson School of Applied Economics and Management.
The minor, composed of seven courses, was developed to prepare life sciences majors for careers that straddle both science and business and to provide premedical, predental and preveterinary students with business practices that will help them understand the economic environment in which many will eventually practice. The required courses will expose students to innovative business ideas in preparation for future entrepreneurial opportunities; business goals and terms used by companies and nonprofit organizations; financial accounting; marketing; business management and finance. Courses can be taken on a satisfactory/unsatisfactory basis instead of for grades.
The new minor was made possible through a gift by dentist Dr. Jonathan Levine '76 and Stacey Levine, and orthopedic surgeon Dr. David Levine '88 and Davena Levine '88.
