Conference on diversity in the workforce set for June 9

A Diversity Roundtable Conference and Exposition, slated for June 9, will address diversity issues facing the workforce in the coming decade. It will include concurrent sessions on gender transition, religious diversity, incorporating ex-offenders, interrupting bias, hiring veterans with disabilities, preparing for Gen Y and Gen Z, white privilege, the "new majority," and best practices for implementing a diversity initiative.
This year's conference, "The New Majority-Moving Into the New Decade -- Diversity Issues Facing the Workforce," will be held at Ithaca College, Emerson Suites, 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m.
Keynote speaker Sean Eversley Bradwell, assistant professor at the Center for the Study of Race, Culture and Ethnicity at Ithaca College, serves as the coordinator for the African Diaspora minor; his research and teaching interests include pedagogy, policy and race theory.
"Past diversity roundtables have been well-attended by Cornell, Ithaca College and local community members seeking to further their professional development and personal growth," said Lynette Chappell-Williams, Cornell's associate vice president for workforce diversity and inclusion and chair of the roundtable's planning committee. "I strongly encourage Cornell faculty and staff members interested in attending to register soon, as conference keynote and sessions fill quickly."
