Sage Chapel noon series focuses on sustainability with food and music
Behind every solar panel or locally grown carrot is a person who cares deeply about improving our shared world. To celebrate the spirit of sustainability during Cornell Sustainability Month, a new series -- each Thursday in April, noon-1 p.m. in Sage Chapel -- will stimulate conversation about climate neutrality.
The series, "A Spirit of Sustainability: Why We Care About Climate Neutrality," will focus attention on the people behind Cornell's Climate Action Plan, their inspirations and motivations, and the university's efforts to achieve carbon neutrality in the years ahead.
Food and music will be available at noon; at 12:15 p.m. Dan Roth, sustainability coordinator in the Office of Environmental Compliance and Sustainability and the event moderator, will introduce the week's featured speaker for a 20-minute presentation followed by a question-and-answer period.
Speakers and topics include:
- April 2: Lanny Joyce, energy conservation;
- April 9: Spring Buck and David Lieb, alternative transportation;
- April 16: Mary-Lynn Cummings and Randy Lacey, green development;
- April 23: Jim Adams, renewable energy; and
- April 30: Tim Fahey, sustainability research and education, and Kyu Whang, a sustainable campus community.
